A Vegetarian Christmas

A Vegetarian Christmas
Description

… to celebrate as you like

There are more and more people who have opted for a vegetarian regime for various reasons. Here in Italy the choice of food is extensive and excellent and so we thought of suggesting some succulent dishes, with the recipes you can find on our site, for our vegetarian web surfers. Remember that this is first course country – just hundreds of pasta, rice and soup dishes with all their regional variations, vegetables galore in all their dressings, mouth watering sweets and desserts, fruit both wild and cultivated changing all the year around.

Apart from the traditional Italian dishes, the fashion has now become fusion. Many recipes are based on the original ideas, then combined in different ways just to tickle your imagination as well as your palate. This is a new way of eating and restaurants vie with each other to offer the most enticing combinations to their guests. Putting two ingredients together where no one so far has thought of doing, seems to be the ‘in’ thing these days. And then the ideas are send by word of mouth and repeated in homes throughout the country.

Sweets are now being enhanced out of their traditional guise. For example, the good old plain Panettone that heralds in Christmas, is definitely out, unless of course it is filled with all kinds of goodies ranging from chocolate, nuts, various ice creams, different jams, whipped cream and bathed in brandy, rum or other liqueur. Can you imagine? The original Tiramisu now has various versions, each richer than the last. Just think what we will be offering our digestive system these days! All the same it’s a good time to get together and celebrate. The eat parade is now on!
