What’s news!

The holidays are now over, parents are breathing a sigh of relief. Children are contemplating the beginning of the school year, seeing their school friends again, exchanging experiences and the like.

This summer has been the hottest for a number of years, as a result people have not been very willing to stand and cook. People here in Europe have preferred to partake in salads of all kinds, maybe prepared in the cooler hours of the morning or evening. This country fortunately abounds in different types of vegetables and there are an infinite number of combinations.

There is a new style in cooking these days. Take a traditional dish, then add something different and you have created fusion! Once upon a time, the putting together of ingredients followed fixed rules. All the recipes in the cook books followed these rules just as they had been brought down over the centuries by word of mouth.

Then all of a sudden, things changed! In France and Italy, well-known gourmet pioneers, have started to branch out by creating new gastronomic fashions. The end-users, the guests at tables and the restaurateurs all partook in this new happening and publications started to follow these new ideas. Today, apart from traditional fare, a restaurant that has nothing new to offer, has little chance of lasting very long. However as trends come they are inclined to go and now because of the crisis, the 'cucina povera' is starting to come back being frugal and economical.

In any case, Buon appetito to everyone and enjoy!
