Mother's Day

Although Mother's Day may be traced back to Ancient Roman times, it is better known in the USA due to the carnage during the Civil War. It was Julia Ward Howe who then suggested that this day should be declared a public holiday dedicated to peace. Over the centuries Mother's Day became synonymous with peace as no mother would willingly send her children to the battlefront.
This holiday, celebrated on the first Sunday in May, has at the present day become the symbol of the role that mothers play in everyday life, dedicated to the well being and education of their offspring, bringing a word of comfort and encouragement, a person to be relied on, a listening ear and a broad shoulder to cry on. The backstage is their element and their happiness lies in the success of others.
We of InCucina wish all mothers well for this day of peace hoping that you will be surrounded by their loved ones.
