Preparation Wash the tomatoes well and place them in a pot of boiling water. Let them scald for three minutes. Now switch off and put the tomatoes on a plate. Peel them and cut the ends off. Put a basil leaf onto the bottom of the jar. Start inserting the tomatoes.

Now melt the salt in a glass of warm water. Stir. Pour the water into the jar until the tomatoes are fully covered. End up with a basil leaf. Screw the lid on tightly. Now wrap the jar in an old rag. and put it into a pot of boiling water upright. Boil for an hour. Let the jars cool overnight in the pot. To improve the appearance of the jars, cut a round of paper or material to put over the top.

Cut them according to the size of the lids and fix them with elastic or even ribbon. Put them on a shelf or in the pantry. You will later enjoy the summer fragrance of basil and fresh tomatoes whenever you like.
