Ingredients Flour  250 gr.
Salt  a lot
Lemon Rind  half a lemon
Orange Rind  half an orange
White wine  4 spoonfuls
Butter  50 gr.
Eggs  1
Sugar  100 gr.
Almonds  peeled and roughly chopped or candied fruit cut into cubes
Honey  250 gr.
Sugar  3 heaped spoonfuls
Coloured hundreds and thousands  as required
Oil for frying  in abundance

Preparation Sieve the flour and put it on a board. Make a hole in the middle and put the wine, egg, butter, sugar, the lemon and orange peel and the salt.

Knead well and then roll out sticks from the dough the size of a pencil. Cut these into pieces and put a few of them at a time into hot but not boiling oil. As soon as the pieces have become golden brown, drain them and let them cool.

In a saucepan, heat the honey and the sugar and when they are a nice golden brown, add the almonds and the fried balls. Cover them with the honey then place them on a greased dish. Wet your hands with water or with half a lemon and give the cake the shape of a ring with a big hole in the middle pressing it well.
Spray the top with the hundreds and thousands.
