Preparation Put the chestnuts into a large pot and cover them with cold water. Boil them for 40 minutes otherwise for 60 minutes if the chestnuts are large.

Leave the chestnuts inside the water you have used for boiling them. Take them out, one at a time, and peel them removing the skin as well.

In this way, the chestnuts may be used in making different recipes or else eaten as they are.
